NewsThe Twang get the party started at Carling Weekend: Leeds FestivalThe Twang rounded off their summer circuit with a crowd pleasing debut at the Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival this evening (August 26). Taking to the NME/Radio 1 Tent, the Birmingham five-piece were warmly received as they kicked off their show with 'The Neighbour'. The band performed eight tracks from their debut album including hit singles 'Wide Awake' and 'Either Way', which saw the crowd bellow out every word, and forthcoming release 'Two Lovers'. Commenting on the size of his audience, singer Phil Etheridge said: "It means a lot to us for you to come and see us because there's lots of other bands on. "I hope you've had a great weekend because I have, fucking hell! Let's keep this party going." The band closed their boisterous set by firing white ticker tape over the crowd during 'Cloudy Room'. Snoop Dogg sentenced to pick up trash Snoop Dogg has been sentenced to 160 hours of community service that will include picking up trash as a result of carrying an illegal weapon in an airport last year. The rap star, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr chose to serve out the sentence in a park in Orange County, California. Snoop Dogg will do "everything from raking leaves to painting benches," his attorney, Donald Etra, told the Associated Press. Authorities picked up Snoop Dogg on September 27, 2006 at John Wayne Airport in Orange County after they discovered a collapsible baton in one of his bags. The rapper said it was a prop for a video, but authorities said it was a dangerous weapon. Snoop Dogg pleaded guilty last month to one count of felony possession of a dangerous weapon, which may be reduced to a misdemeanour if he doesn't break the law for one year. The sentence also includes three years of probation, a $1,000 fine and a $10,000 donation to a country charity for troubled youth. |
